Banyule Community Health is seeking to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Community Development Worker for the West Heidelberg Neighbourhood Renewal project. We require a committed, dynamic and energetic person with relevant experience in the Community Development. Neighbourhood Renewal brings the resources of local residents, agencies, businesses and governments to tackle disadvantage and create lasting change. This role is crucial in the engagement and empowerment of local residents and to increase participation.

This project requires a suitably qualified and experienced person with excellent interpersonal, communication and partnership skills at all levels, and a passion for fairness. Banyule Community Health has two main sites, one in the heart of West Heidelberg and the other near the train station of Greensborough. The Community Programs Team provides a range of services, including Neighbourhood Renewal, prevention and health promotion focused projects and chronic disease related programs.

The key responsibilities for this position include:
• Work alongside community members to strengthen local community
• Participate, lead and support plans for Neighbourhood Renewal succession.
• Encourage and advocate for strong community participation in the West Heidelberg community

The key skills required for this role include:
• Experience in working with and communicating with a variety of community groups
• Experience in building the capacity of local community members
• Experience in leading and delivering community development projects
